On May 3, 2019, Relman, Dane & Colfax Counsel Sara Pratt testified at a public briefing on fair housing issues in Illinois held by the Illinois Advisory Committee to the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights. Sara testified on a panel on fair housing enforcement with representatives of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the Chicago Commission on Human Relations.
Sara, who retired from HUD's Office of Fair Housing and Equal Opportunity as Deputy Assistant Secretary and Senior Advisor to the Assistant Secretary before joining Relman, Dane & Colfax, testified on the importance of leadership, staffing, and resources to the administration of a national fair housing enforcement program to address and correct systemic civil rights violations, as well as the need for strong, consistent national guidance on fair housing issues.
