After fifteen years of groundbreaking litigation, Steve Dane will be departing the Firm effective December 31, 2019. With an eye to spending more time with his family, he will be practicing as a solo practitioner from his office in Ohio. Effective January 1, 2020, the Firm will be known as Relman Colfax PLLC, with offices in Washington, D.C. and Santa Fe, New Mexico.
Steve teamed up with John Relman in 2005, bringing his substantial expertise in matters involving discrimination in the homeowner’s insurance market and his strong ties with the National Fair Housing Alliance (NFHA) and its many member agencies to the six-lawyer firm then known as Relman & Associates. In the intervening years, Steve helped build the Firm into a leader in anti-discrimination matters and to expand its scope to the entire country. Steve was involved in launching a number of important discrimination cases against insurance companies and lenders, builders who violated federal design and construction standards, and housing providers who refused to recognize the rights of people with disabilities. He led the Firm's efforts on countless amicus briefs for NFHA and its members, and secured important appellate victories, with opinions that continue to be cited by advocates all over the country.
The Firm wishes Steve well as he embarks on his next chapter, and thanks him for many years of devoted service.
