Danielle Root is an Attorney at Relman Colfax. She joined the firm in 2022 and practices in the civil rights counseling group.
Danielle’s counseling work focuses on advising financial institutions on compliance with fair lending, fair housing, and consumer protection laws. Danielle’s work frequently involves advising lenders and other financial institutions on fair lending risks associated with statistical or machine learning models and on developing internal procedures and controls to ensure adherence to fair lending laws and regulations.
Previously, Danielle was the director of voting rights and access to justice at the Center for American Progress where she worked successfully with federal, state, and local governments to adopt policies on voting rights, election security, and civil justice reform. Since joining the firm, Danielle has led and taken part in large-scale policy-related projects aimed at protecting and advancing civil and constitutional rights. She has also performed civil rights and racial equity audits and investigated violations of organizational DEI policies.
Danielle received her B.A. from the University of Minnesota and her J.D. from The George Washington University Law School.
